Below the house
The Cellar
One sauna, one steam room, one very cold shower. One party at a time, and the door locks from the inside.
People, at most. That is the whole idea.
There is no spa reception here, no treatment menu in a leather folder, and no one in a robe looking at you over a magazine. It is the old cloth cellar, under brick vaults, kept warm. We took out a wall and put in a stove, and you book the entire thing by the hour.

Four small rooms
The sauna
Ten seats of black alder, heated to about 85 degrees over a stove of local stone. It smells of birch and very faintly of cloth.
The steam room
Small, pale and candlelit. Twenty minutes in here and you will stop checking what time it is.
The cold shower
A brass chain, a stone floor and water straight from the main. Optional, and everybody says that.
The quiet room
Two low daybeds, wool blankets, herb tea and a shelf of books that nobody has ever finished.
